• Passion For Life & Recipe for Lasagna

Let passion for life be restored, tasting joy and every breakthrough you bring to me. Hold me close to you with a willing spirit that obeys whatever you say. -Psalms 51:12

Disobedience causes turmoil and confusion. God’s great love for us implemented commandments for us to follow. Only God can completely restore what has been broken. He’s willing to forgive the worst sins and restore us to himself. We must, however, be willing to obey him, turn away from our wrongdoings, and stay close to him with a willing spirit. Often we have to come to him for strength and be willing to choose to do what is right.

    Ingredients:

    1 pound Italian sausage

    1 pound hamburger

    1 clove garlic, minced

    1 TBSP whole basil

    1 1/2 tsp salt

    1 1-pound can tomatoes

    2 6-ounce cans tomato paste

    10 ounce lasagne noodles

    2 eggs

    3 cups fresh ricotta

    1/2 cup grated parmesan

    2 TBSP parsley flakes

    1 tsp salt

    1/2 tsp pepper

1 pound mozzarella cheese, sliced very thin

    Instructions:

Brown meat slowly; spoon off excess fat.

Add next 5 ingredients and 1 cup water. Simmer, covered, 15 minutes; stir often.

Cook noodles in boiling salted water till tender; drain; rinse.

Beat eggs; add remaining ingredients, except mozzarella.

Layer half the noodles in 13x9x2-inch baking dish; spread with half the ricotta filling; add half the mozzarella cheese and half the meat sauce.

    Repeat

Bake at 375 degrees about 30 minutes.

Let stand a few minutes before serving. Serves 8-10

  • Yielding…Allowing Him To Do the Work In Us

Wow, has God had me on the Potter’s wheel! I have been seeking God to understand why it seems that most of my prayers haven’t been answered yet, at least personally. I am a tither, I give offerings, I give alms, and first fruits so where am I missing it? I prayed Lord, “Is there anything in my heart that isn’t pleasing to you?” He replied, “You are being petty.”

“Wait, what? Me? He said, “You are so busy comparing yourself to everyone else and their blessings that even if I hit one right dead in your face, you wouldn’t notice it because you are caught up in wondering why are they so blessed?!” I said, “Come on God some of these people don’t even go to church. Lord, so I know they aren’t tithing.” He replied again, “Stop being petty and keep your eyes on me!”

After months of working on being who God called me to be, correcting me, and repenting numerous times for being petty, I am happy to announce that I am doing much better in this area of my life.

Have I arrived? No, I am a work in progress. The other day I got upset about my card not working at the store. I stormed out the door and immediately Holy Spirit said, ” Don’t be petty!” I can laugh at it now because I probably looked like some crazy lady shuffling the doors open and storming out of the store. Lesson learned!

What can you take from my experience? Well, just know that you can go to God with anything. Go ahead, tell him you are mad because He already knows. Tell Him you don’t think it is fair that the snob down the street has her nails done every week and you are struggling to keep the lights on.

Our heavenly Father cares about every aspect of our lives and we are told to “cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) God has our best interests in mind. Always be willing to change your attitude to develop the character of Christ.

Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” So when you think your neighbor is more blessed than you, perhaps materially, just know that God has blessed us spiritually. We have a new name and our names are written down in the Lamb’s Book of Life!!!!

Comparison kills our identity so stop comparing yourself to the world. Let’s set our standards higher and do the will of the Father. Stay close to His heart and He will answer your prayers, but all in His timing.

  • Sovereign of The Seas

Hey guys! So have you ever been on a cruise?

Well, when I was 9 years old we went on our first cruise. It was a total surprise to my sister, brother, and I. We had no clue and my mom handed us “fun money” because we were going to stay with my aunt, or so we thought.

The money was Bahamas currency! So we got to the ship and I saw the name and I wasn’t quite sure how to say it let alone knew what it meant. I asked my mom what sovereign meant and she told me that it meant ruler or in power.

I started thinking of this on Sunday and I came to the conclusion that God is really sovereign over the sea, earth and sky. He reigns over the whole universe! Isn’t that crazy? The same God that sent his son to die for our sins is the same God who created the whole universe with just His words! It’s just crazy to me.

Let me take it one step farther… the only thing He used his hands to make was us… humans! And it says in Psalm 139:13 that he knit us together in our mother’s womb. He STILL uses his hands to create today!

I love it! The sovereign king of the universe knit you together in your mother’s womb! If that doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will!

Just remember… God is not only sovereign of the seas but of the earth, sky, and universe!

Remember, I love you guys. Peace out peeps!

  • Believe The Good Report

Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? (Isaiah 53:1)

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

“Who has believed our report?” Think about reports. They can be good; they can be bad. We would rather not receive bad reports- but they do happen.

For example, if an accountant gives a businessman a financial report that shows the bottom line in the red- that is not good. The same can be said when the lab report indicates a physical problem. This next example is less severe, but did you ever have a report card that was a bad report? I certainly did at times.

“Who has believed our report?” In scripture, Isaiah was speaking of the best report of all. It was the report of God revealing His arm of salvation to a world desperate to experience the love of God. Isaiah 59:16 says, “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.”

When no one else could help mankind- God reached out. When no one else would help mankind- God reached out. Isaiah certainly gave a good report for his generation and for our generation. His writings are filled with good news.

The report given in Isaiah 53:5 is absolutely amazing! He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities- He paid the price for our sins and took care of our spiritual condition. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him- He made a way for us to have peace with God and peace in our own lives.

Then this verse says with His stripes we are healed- He provides healing spiritually, physically, mentally and emotionally. In Philippians 4:19, the Apostle Paul said, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” The report covers everything we need. It is the best report of all.

Proverbs 15:30 says, “The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.” Surely our eyes can see that we have been given a good report. It is up to us to believe it. I choose to believe it! My prayer is that you will believe it also.

  • Stepping Up & Stepping Out

What Does It Mean To Step Out in Faith?

To step out in faith means to take a risk for God, knowing that He is going to catch you and be there with you if anything should happen.

Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

So….writing this month’s blog is me on my journey. The title alone has been so not me. I have always had a fear of doing anything that brought attention to myself or put me in the “ limelight” so to speak.

Well, over the last several months, God has had other plans for me. He does that. He knows what our plans are WAY before we even think about it. Let me tell you a little story about how God will work in your life.

In August 2021, I went to a Women’s Retreat in Tennessee. Several people had said you will come back a changed person. So I went with an open mind. Oh my… from the minute I walked into that cabin, I felt a stirring (that stirring gets better later in the story). It was something I had never felt before…SHEW…

We started Friday evening outside in our comfy lawn chairs with about 50 + WOMEN OF GOD worshiping, and then several ladies with a word from God spoke after that. Noone stayed in their seats much after that.

I had a beautiful friend speak a word over me. And what was it about?? FEAR…LET IT GO!!! Ok.. so this is how it’s going to be this weekend, I thought to myself. And the evening continued to go on fairly late.

So Saturday morning brings another day full of worship, speakers, fellowship, and releasing…WOW…how powerful that was. This goes on all day into the evening again.

Then Sunday rolls around and of course, we started the morning with church, outside with a fire. How awesome that was…

And to add to all this, from the time you step into the cabin on Friday until you leave Monday morning, there are women praying over each other, giving others a word, or just sitting with someone that needs a shoulder to cry on.

Ok…so… here is where it gets REAL. There was a small stream by the cabin. A few ladies decided they wanted to get baptized/re-baptized.

So it began… as the few that had originally decided to do this were getting in the water, several of us decided we wanted to do the same. Over 40 women in all got baptized.

All during that time, it was raining and the stream began to rise. But 3 beautiful Women of God that were baptizing everyone stayed in that water even though it was cold and muddy and high. P.S. Love you ladies.

So it was my time to get into the water and I will admit I was nervous.. you know.. stepping out here in front of people. When I got in they prayed over me and baptized me. When I came up, it was like I was being set free…. I let out a scream of joy…

The water was stirring, (remember what I said earlier about the stirring?), swirling, running backward, and bubbles were everywhere. When I got out I had this soap of bubbles all over me. I mean like I had been run through the wash cycle.. talk about getting cleansed!!!

From that moment on, I felt this awakening in me. I wasn’t sure what was going on. The rest of the weekend was just amazing.

On the last day, we were having worship before we left and we were asked if anyone wanted to say something about their weekend and before I knew it I was up and grabbing the microphone! ‘Who was this person?’

I spoke about how God was telling me to step up and step out. Was I nervous? Yes…was I ready to run? Absolutely… But I knew my God was standing right there with me.

Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Fast forward to January of this year and I’m doing a blog. Who would have thought? I was asked if I was interested and what was crazy is I had been thinking about doing something like this. Confirmation??

YES!!! But I still wanted to pray about it. I wasn’t sure what I would write about. Would anyone even read it? I’ve read blogs and some people just have such a way with words that I don’t. I really wasn’t sure but I felt God was putting it in front of me so I said I would try.

So now I needed to decide what I was going to blog about and I prayed about it and I decided the best thing was to write about things I’ve dealt with in the past or possibly things that I’m dealing with right now.

So.. here I am, writing blog #3. I hope that this blog can help someone that is geared to step up and step out. God won’t put something on your heart to do if it isn’t for him… believe me, I’ve tried doing things for myself and they don’t work out so I know this is a God thing.

Read Joshua 1:9 again, He’s there beside us, He will guide us in our gifts, to help us be stronger in them and grow in them. He’s never going to lead us astray; we just need to trust in Him, have faith in Him, and then do what God wants us to do without questioning Him.

    I hope you have a blessed day…

Never let your cup become empty☕

  • He’s Still Working On Me

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6).

Possibly, you may remember the following lyrics of a children’s song that was heard in thousands of churches years ago:

He’s still working on me, to make me what I need to be. It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars,

The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars.
How loving and patient He must be,

‘Cause he’s still working on me.

Although this is a children’s song, we adults can benefit from its message. This is so true when we look at learning to be a Christian. You see, we do not wake up one morning with a red cape with a yellow “SC” emblazoned across it like Superman wore in the comic books. We are not Super Christian from day one. Why? Simply because living for God is a process- a process that lasts a lifetime.

There is no doubt that when we repent of our sins and surrender our lives to the Lord, we are forgiven and saved right then. However, living out the Christian life is another matter. We have habits, hangups and hurts that have to be dealt with. Thank God we are not alone as we begin to mature in our walk with the Lord.

If you have sincerely given your life to God, don’t get discouraged every time you fail or feel that you are struggling. Remember, God loves you- that is why Jesus went to the cross in the first place. We are all works in progress. God started the work; God will finish it.

Maybe it would be a good thing for us to remember a few childlike words. Those words are, “He’s still working on me.”

  • Three Basic Ingredients of The Christian Life

O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the people. Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works (Psalm 105:1-2).

Looking back over my years as a Christian, I have observed many things regarding how people view the Christian life. The tendency to complicate living for God is one thing that has always concerned me.

As born again Christians we should be able to remember how simple it was to get saved in the first place. We believed in our hearts that Jesus is the only way to be saved. With our mouths we confessed this belief. We asked for forgiveness. We surrendered our lives into His care. That was it! He heard our prayers and He saved us. It wasn’t complicated at all.

Living the Christian life isn’t as complicated as we sometimes make it out to be. Psalm 105:1-2 points out three very basic ingredients with regard to living for God. Those three ingredients are prayer, worship and witness. Let us briefly look at each one.

Prayer is absolutely necessary. Notice the Psalmist wrote, “Call upon his name.” The Apostle Paul wrote this to Timothy: “I will that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” Colossians 4:2 tells us, “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.” Prayer is our direct communication with our Heavenly Father. To really know Him we have to communicate with Him. After all, it is a source of joy for us to know that He is listening to us.

Notice the words of the Psalmist: “Give thanks to the Lord. Sing to Him.” That sounds like worship to me. We worship Him for who He is- not just for what He does. Jesus said, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” Our worship must be sincere and heartfelt. Whether we are singing, praying or vocalizing our praise and thanks to God, we need to put our all into our worship.

Finally, we must look at our witness. Contrary to what we sometimes think, we do not have to be theologians to be witnesses. Again, hear the words of the psalmist: “Make known his deeds among the people. Talk of all his wondrous works.” What has the Lord done for us? There is no better way to witness than to simply let others know how good God has been to us and let them know God will do the same for them. We must also be careful that our actions coincide with our words. Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

So, why make the Christian life complicated? God does not want us to be stressed out. God wants us to live lives that are full of His love, his peace and His joy. Let us keep this as basic as it is intended to be.

  • You ARE Loved

Can I just acknowledge the elephant in the room in this blog? I’m just going to get straight to the point. Life is hard, y’all.

Lately, I’ve been watching my children as they mature and see so many opportunities opening up for them. It’s like the world is at their fingertips. It makes me so excited for them and I can only imagine what awaits them in this journey called life.

However, I’m not naive enough to think that they will escape this life without their share of heartache. I pray that they always love Jesus and put him first and God’s Word has promised that if they trust in him and follow him, he will direct their paths.

But, we live in a fallen world. I was just telling someone this evening about my son’s first experience with betrayal when he was at a birthday party in first grade and his friend was encouraging which way to place the tail on the donkey. He thought for sure he had done a great job but when he removed the blindfold, he realized that his friend had led him astray.

The look on his face broke my mama heart as I realized that this would be the first of many disappointments to come in his life.

I pray regularly that my kids will find favor with God and man. But sadly, I have watched them interact with people who don’t seem to understand their worth. I know this because as much as I try to treat people with kindness and respect, I have also dealt with people who seem to find pleasure in pointing out my flaws.

Unfortunately, I seem to fall short of people’s expectations of what I should be, often. I will never be what everyone thinks I should. There used to be a time when knowing that would crush me and I tried to stretch myself to do things that just weren’t possible for me. It left me frustrated and exhausted.

I still hear the complaints and comparisons, but they don’t affect me like they used to. Mainly because I realized that man’s opinion of me doesn’t define me. I will never be exactly what people want me to be, and I’m okay with that now.

I’m okay with not being everything that everyone wants me to be. Because, I’m who God wants me to be and he says that I’m enough. He says that even when I’ve fallen short of man’s expectations and desires for me, I’m still loved by him!

I’m still a work in progress and even though I know that perfection is not possible, excellence is, so that’s what I’m striving for.

So when I hear those voices yelling in my ear that I’m not good enough, not organized enough, not outgoing enough, just not enough, I tell them that they are a liar and I know that I am seen and known by the creator of the universe and even though his voice seems to be harder to hear sometimes, it holds more truth and authority than any of these lies that are so easily heard.

Do you know what his voice says? It says that no matter what I’ve done, no matter how much I’ve failed, no matter how I feel, that I AM, in fact, loved! I pray that my kids are surrounded by people who know their worth and love them for who they are. Faults and all. I also pray that it doesn’t take them nearly as long to learn this as it did me.

I pray the same for you as well! I just released a song last month that I wrote from this experience of God revealing his love for me at a time that I didn’t feel worthy of receiving it. He is just good like that. I pray that you will be reminded of his unfailing love for you as you listen. Be encouraged, friend! You ARE loved!

  • The Importance of Rest

This one is for all my energizer bunnies out there.

And for the ones who feel the constant pressure to keep up with the “boss girl” trend. (Or guy, that pressure is not subject to one gender here).

To the ones who feel like if they stop for a second, they’ll fall behind in life.

This one’s for you. The one who feels like they aren’t worthy if they rest and “take breaks.”

    I’ve definitely been there.

Growing up, people always complimented me in my achievements and such in life. This itself is not a bad thing. I had a good support system of people who loved and encouraged me to do a good job in what I was involved in in life. However, my mind told me that I had to keep doing this. To keep succeeding, to keep doing more, to prove myself worthy, and to keep at it or I would lose their love or respect for me, becoming a failure in their eyes. I allowed a good thing to run rampant, and eventually that good thing turned into a toxic thing in my mind. This kind of striving led to me being worn out and exhausted.

Even though I was feeling completely drained, I still kept on striving. I still kept pushing through the burn out, keeping my schedule full and feeling like if I stopped that I wasn’t doing enough, like if I took a moment to rest I would become a failure. Because of my striving, I developed a case of imposter syndrome (though I didn’t realize this until years later).

I remember that in the height of this season of my life, right before I realized the imposter syndrome, someone in my circle commented *in a derogatory way* that I was the type of person who needed to “take breaks.” That I couldn’t keep up with the demand and what I needed to do so I had to take breaks. Of course this just added to the feelings of imposter syndrome that I already had, and that I didn’t measure up to others’ expectations, the same ones that I had already placed on myself I might add.

It wasn’t until I read a book by Jordan Lee Dooley called Own Your Everyday that I realized I was suffering from this imposter syndrome mentality.

In Jordan’s book, there is a whole chapter devoted to imposter syndrome. When I saw the title of the chapter, I kinda laughed and thought to myself that this chapter wouldn’t apply to me. Boy was I so wrong. The more I read it, the more I was like whoa… this seriously is me.

It was then I knew I needed to make a change. I knew that I needed to take some more time for myself. To invest more time to rest, and to invest more into my health. The truth was, I was sacrificing my health for what? Other people’s opinions?

In the Old Testament of the Bible, we see in several places about honoring the Sabbath and keeping it holy. It’s revered as such an important thing that it was even listed as one of the 10 Commandments.

Even God himself deemed it important. I mean, after six days of creating the earth and everything contained in it, He rested. The entire seventh day of the creation story

is dedicated to resting. Since God is, well, God, He simply wouldn’t need to rest. In this though, He was setting the example for us, showing us the importance of rest.

The point is, resting is important. Our bodies weren’t meant to truck along, and God didn’t create us to mindless and relentlessly work. We were also meant to rest and enjoy.

Part of investing in yourself is creating the space to rest. If you aren’t accustomed to it, you may feel restless or guilty for doing so, but let me tell you it is a need. You can’t skip on rest.. I mean, it was so important that not only did God model it for us, but he also set it in stone (literally) as a need-to-do, no ifs, ands, or buts.

The reality of it is, you can’t skip on rest. Rest is vital for so many of our body’s functions. Among those things are better mental health, increased concentration and memory, a healthier immune system, reduced stress, and improved mood. When you rest and take the time to enjoy life, you’ll also be able to be more productive in the rest of your week as well.

View it this way: resting is an investment in your overall productivity.

Now when I say rest, I don’t mean just relaxing on your couch watching the newest episode of your favorite show, though that could be included. It also means doing that hobby you enjoy (and no, not for profit… just for fun), or soaking up some rays of sun as you take a hike, or having a cup of coffee with a friend.

When I say rest, I mean doing something you enjoy and giving your body the chance to unwind, let loose, and relax. Something that you don’t feel pressured to do, but just want to do because it’s fun and you find rest in it.

I think sometimes we can take life too seriously, not leaving any time for the things we enjoy doing. The thing is, God has given us these different interests, hobbies, and passions to enjoy. To rest in doing them.

Resting and taking the time to just enjoy life are so important. Giving yourself the “okay” to relax is crucial to how your body functions. People invest in what they view as worthwhile. Taking the time to rest will not set you back in life. On the contrary, it will set you up to make better use of your time here. It’s time to start investing more in yourself and your health.

    Sincerely,

A woman who doesn’t want you to fall in the same trap

  • Stay at the Feet of Jesus

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:33

I’m sure you all have seen, heard, read, or even known yourself that there is something different about this year and the times we are living in. Satan is trying with all he’s got to deceive believers and cause confusion and division. Our enemy wants to cause disunity in the body and bring on spirits of offense, lies, and much more. BUT… GOD!

Much of the world is living in panic. We see many confused about what shots to take, to wear or not wear a mask, isolation and avoiding others, and much more. Many appear to be dying at frequent rates, shelves in stores seem spare, and evil seems to be taking over. This attempts to bring on fear and distrust in the Lord.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns– and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?– Matthew 6:25-26

It can be scary in the flesh and in the world, but praise God we may live on this earth but we are not OF this world!!! God knows the end from the beginning and I have good news! Our Heavenly Father has not lost control of the battle at hand. Praise God we are just getting started!!!

As many other prophets have said, this year is going to begin the absolute best time for the church!! Hallelujah!! The 3rd Great Awakening is here. But you will need to stay at the feet of Jesus like never before. You will need to be on guard at all times, for the devil prowls around looking for whom he may devour. Stay armored up (Ephesians 6). You will need to stay close to the Father’s voice and listen to Him diligently.

Things may get weird for God says He is doing a new thing!!! Turn off the news and separate yourself from negative voices. Then, get in the Word, get in prayer and worship, and find yourself a Sprit-filled church & friends. We need to be obedient like never before, even if it doesn’t make sense right away.

This is not a time to be filled with fear because our God will never leave us nor forsake us. If you are saved, you have access to all heavenly things; it’s time to receive and stand on them. Although we are under the Lord’s covering, we do have a part to play. We are told to fight the good fight of faith, to seek first the Kingdom of God, and to love God with all we’ve got and others as ourselves.

We need to remain in the secret place. We should be praying in the spirit on all occasions and being persistent with our prayers for believers everywhere. Stay armored up, keep our Father first, stay flexible with the new, and watch how God is moving like never before!!! The waves of Glory that are beginning will be so great, that they will not be contained in history books!!

Hannah Smith, author of the Moving Mountains blog, is a woman who feels she has experienced a lot of life in her 33 years.

At 19 years old, Hannah joined the Army. After moving around the country, getting a divorce and losing what seemed like everything, she landed back where God wanted her in Ohio, even though she fought the whole way. She is now a devoted follower of Christ and seeks the Lord with all she’s got.

Hannah is married and a RN, but works as a stay-at-home mom to her 3 children per instruction from the Lord.

She loves to hike, travel, drink coffee, and talk about Jesus. Hannah also has a heart to create a home and life in which she can be a safe place for the hurting and the broken. Her biggest piece of advice would be to never tell the Lord you will never do something- because He will most likely then ask you to do that very thing, LOL!

To her readers, Hannah says, “I believe that God set every single one of you reading this apart, for such a time as this. It is my hope and prayer that God would use the words I say to change your life in a way you and I never thought possible!”
